Home and Leisure Registrations Being Accepted
Although the weather is cool, the Chamber staff is already gearing up for the annual Home and Leisure Show. Save the date of Saturday, April 28. For the past several years the vendor spaces at the show have sold out. Call our office to reserve your spot and promote your business at this great event. 

Mandatory Violence and Harassment Policy Jan 16, 17
Mel Quevillon of the Neighbours Friends and Family at Work program, run out of the Womens Rural Resource Centre is offering small businesses assistance in regard to new legislation. Bill 168 was legislated in June 2010 and states that all workplaces of five employees or more are required to have policies in place around violence and harassment. In particular, domestic violence is highlighted as a necessary piece of this training. The Neighbours Friends and Family program is offering three levels of involvement for businesses from education to a full two-day training workshop being held in Strathroy on January 16 and 17. Join Chamber members in the New Year for networking and refreshments at our next Biz After Biz. Damen Optimal Health Team will be hosting the event on Thursday, January 26 from 6 8 pm at 8 Front St East. This is your chance to see the historic building that has been renovated for the new business. 

Put a Cap on Youth Homelessness
Next Wave Youth Centre, a program of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) is calling on all Strathroy residents to show they care about youth homelessness by purchasing Raising the Roof toques from Next Wave. Each year Next Wave provides services and programs to hundreds of local youth in our community. Next Wave's goal is to sell 200 toques. Every toque purchased helps homeless youth move forward to stability, education and independence. Every toque sold supports real solutions. 1 toque - provides two hot meals; 10 toques - provide life skills program materials for one youth; 100 toques - support street outreach and emergency survival kits for 20 homeless youth; 200 toques - support one month in a workplace program or a transitional housing and support facility. The distinctive red toques are $10 each and available now from Next Wave Youth Centre, located at 32 Front Street West, Strathroy. Proceeds from sales are shared by Raising the Roof and YOU. The national campaign, now in its 15th year, is Canadas only national homelessness charity dedicated to long-term solutions to homelessness. Come on Strathroy, Put a Cap on Youth Homelessness! Princess Prom Project
Do you have a previously loved prom dress collecting dust? Why not donate it so someone else can attend their prom in style? Dresses are being accepted at the Strathroy & Area Seniors Centre, 137 Frank St, Strathroy from Monday to Friday, 9 am 3:30 pm or by calling Terri at 519-205-0138. In making a donation you will receive coupons from our sponsors: Soul Mind and Body Spa, Once Upon a Time Weddings, and Mary Kay with Ellen Whiting. A Prom Dress shopping spree will be held at the Seniors Centre on Saturday, March 3.
